The Ministry of the Environment (MiAMBIENTE) and the La Chorrera Municipality have coordinated an environmental education agenda for 2026. This initiative aims to strengthen and coordinate environmental education actions in the West Panama region. A technical meeting was held between the Environmental Culture Section of the Ministry's Regional Directorate and the Environmental Management Department of the La Chorrera Municipality. The goal is to join efforts to raise public awareness and involve citizens in environmental protection.

Key priorities include strengthening environmental volunteering, the functioning of advisory commissions and environmental oversight bodies. The plan also includes promoting Community-Based Organizations (OBCs) and implementing the "Ecological Flag" program. These initiatives seek to empower citizens in protecting their natural resources.

Amarilis Mendosa, a representative of MiAMBIENTE, highlighted the importance of these institutional collaborations. This joint effort aims not only to transmit knowledge but also to establish mechanisms for active participation in environmental monitoring and management. This agenda is expected to impact all 18 districts of the La Chorrera municipality.
